Where Even the Ugly can Play....

11/9/06 12:29 pm - Sorry for the Delay... and please meet Brian.

Brian is an Obitsu 27cm slim male, with a head.  I can;t remeber what kind of head he is.   An Obitsu one. >_>  I know he;s an Obitsu one.

Brian got attacked with a hot needle, and then painted.  His eyebrow is slightly too high, and I'm not happy with the lips yet, but the scarring actually looks better in Real Life than it does in this picture.  I'm still getting the hang of this borrowed digicam, which for some reason makes the shading around the scars look really dark! O.O

Brian was origianlly intended to be a female head, which I put on this body becuase I find it easier to paint that way.  But according to my housemates he looks a bit like Richard O'Brian (or did until I painted him) and since then the name has stuck.

My Question to you all:

If I made a second head similar to this, do you think it would sell?

10/17/06 12:59 pm - Starting the Head

OK- here we go.....  My Gretle head arrived, and I promptly got to work turning it into my nastly little Deathnight, Guide.....

Step one:  Turining the head into a chronic burns victim.   Check out all the crap I scraped off it.....

Removing the lips is necessary becuase he's going to have an entirely new set, along with sone funky looking teeth! ^_-   And the nose got left, becuase it's the perfect base for what comes next.....

Step 2:  Nose and chin construction.....

OK- so it's not perfect.  I have to sand down the nose on one side (the wonkiness isn't just the lighting...) and the same for the chin, but not so much.  The sanding of the nose will also give me room to construct the nostrils, and some nice bags under the eyes.  I want to work on the cheekbones too, and the brow (which needs to be heavier).

However, for a first step, I am very pleased with this.......

More will follow soon!

10/7/06 05:06 pm - Opinions? Ideas? Any general thoughts?

Well, here we are- my first update here.  ^_^

I now have 3 projects underway-:

1. a 1/3 doll head (for my own collection, but it'll give you all a taste of waht I can do)
2. a 1/6 scale obitsu girly, with a soft bust body, on whome I intend to experiment.
3. a costume.

The 1/6 girl will be my first complete doll, and she will no doubt end up for sale on e-bay at some point (a link will be put here.)   I have drawn out the design for her, and now I'm just worrying about colour matching- I will have to paint the areas of her that I mod extensively, because the modelling medium I use is white, and clearly the doll isn't..... but I'll work it out.  You can all tell me if it sucks, anyway! ^_-
(Not really related, but still awsome- I have used this as an opportunity to buy two really adorable Gothic Lolita costumes from an e-bay seller I've been watching for a while. I'll be using the costumes for pictures, until such time as I have a sewing machine and can make my own for fullsets.....)

The costume will be fun- my craft foam arrived, and I have 2lb of leather scraps sitting in a bowl of tea as we speak.... ^_^   It will be hand sewn (I'm saving for a sewing machine- all proceeds from this costume are going into the sewing machine fund.)  And I really do think people will like it...... ^_-

I have also decided that my auctions will start just at the base cost of the materials and doll parts I use.  Hence, this little girl doll will be about $40 to start off with (body, head, wig and eyes).  I won't charge anything for the work I do, as this is largely a hobby for me, and I kind of want to see how much people like my work- which means keeping prices down so people can bid.   Does that sound reasonable?
